Harlequin duck in Yellowstone National Park

The stunning male harlequin ducks only visit Yellowstone National Park for about a month in the spring before heading back to the Pacific Northwest. The Harlequin Duck (Histrionicus histrionicus) is an outlier among waterfowl, preferring the turbulent, oxygen-rich whitewater of rushing rivers over calm ponds.
