Greater Yellowstone: The Untamed Interior
2023 was the year the wildlife photography "bug" truly took hold. After a season of discovering local rarities in the Midwest and chasing Bald Eagles along the Mississippi, I felt the pull of the vast, high-elevation wilderness of the West. I wanted to be dwarfed by magnificent moose and experience the primal thrill of seeing a Grizzly bear in its natural habitat—wildlife I had previously only seen on screen or in the pages of magazines.
My first expedition to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem was a revelation. Spanning the volcanic plateaus of Yellowstone National Park and the jagged, cathedral-like peaks of the Grand Tetons, this region is one of the last remaining strongholds for North America’s apex predators and massive ungulates.
In these parks, the landscape is as much a character as the animals themselves. From the thermal mists of Hayden Valley at sunrise to the golden willow flats of the Snake River, every frame is a study in raw, unscripted power. This collection represents my ongoing journey into the heart of the Rockies—a place where the scale of the mountains is matched only by the majesty of the creatures that call them home.
